Imagine having so much sadness built up inside you, that it eventually caused you to go insane. Being haunted by the fact that your loved one is no longer there. In Edgar Allen Poe's poem,
The Raven, he uses mood to explain what happened to a man after the lost of his wife,
Lenore. A raven (symbol of death) appears above his chamber door. As the bird keeps repeating 'nevermore' , the man suddenly smells the perfume of his wife and all these memories slap him in the face causing the pain he once had to explode inside of him
